Dinner @Epi’s
We’ve had dinner at a Basque Restaurant this evening … we had long wanted to try out a Basque Cuisine. Not bad … the restaurant was packed and dining at Epi’s can only be done through reservation, no walk-in. They are only open for about 3 hours a day for 5 days a week for dinner. The place is really cozy, located in a residential setting in nearby Meridian …. Look at the outside of the restaurant, its pretty! Its nicely decorated in the inside as well. Limited parking is at the back of the restaurant.
Amazingly the Grilled Green Pepper tasted very nice ….

The subject above .... is TODAY!
What a nice date that is ~ July 08, 2009!
Amazingly in running order!
---
I was called to help out today, on my day off and ended up working a full day shift, instead of just being 5 hours to cover for the busy period of the day. Was a fantastic day thru … sunny but felt cold in an air-conditioned environment, don’t really like it. A Chinese Chef was on schedule so we’ve had Chicken Yakisoba or as we normally call it ~ Chicken Chow Mein for lunch!!! He prepared like for 5 staff members and it was nice and tasty. We can barely get something ‘oriental’ under the cluster of American filled hotel menu! I like some of the menu but do not like those that has lots of cheese in it, it taste terrible sometimes - to me personally but other people will like it.
I’ve been reading the July issue of Martha Stewart LIVING magazine – with the theme – a taste of summer. There a just lots of food ideas to try out … have tried some of the simplest of salads for a change in my diet lately. Like it a lot, I guest eating less can keep me a lil ‘fit’!
Its Christmas Eve!
Glad to have gotten off work at 4pm today … I craved for the Hickory Farm Rich Fruit Cake and had surely headed to the Christmas store immediately after work today! I got some Chocolate Petit Fours as well!!! I was then thinking how fattening this sumptous dessert would be? Dessert? Well, may be! I would just eat anytime I feel like it but what a heck, its Christmas.
Not only those sweetest stuff … I brought some Chocolate Chip Cookies from the hotel as well. Hmmmm, they’re the best chocolate chip in Boise or wherever the chain exists! The’re not those simple, crappy chocolate chip but hey, look ….

Chocolaty …

Salsa Juanita!
My colleague, Juanita, has always been so sweet … she often brings her homemade Salsa deliciously to work and she even put aside some portion for me to bring home! Its best with a mango recipe and with not much lime ~ do not like it too sour! Some other colleagues will bring chips to go with the Salsa as well! Good for a light “not hungry” type of lunch and this is everyone’s favorite at work.
scorching hot at 103F!
Was driving along Broadway …. went over to the nearby store to look for some sushi & sashimi …. it was scorching hot! Saw one of the clock/temperature tower that said 103F .. 445pm! Just can’t stand the heat …. hopefully its cooling down now …. but love the sushi I bought though and all of us does love Japanese food! Was too lazy to drive all the way out to our favorite Japanese Restaurant ~ Tsuru Japanese Restaurant ~ http://www.sonobanasushi.com. The restuarant is quite a distance from where we live but we do visit them at least once a month! I’d say we’ve tried almost all the Japanese restaurants in Boise but this one is our best choice. At least these are much healthier than the Aussie steak!
aussie summer crave
We headed to our favorite steakhouse – Outback – had to try out their Summer special. The BBQ mixed grill was nice but was rather expensive …… once a while and that was fine! We’ve always had to wait to be seated with long line if we went during the weekends but being there on Tuesday was just nice and comfortable! Looks like cholesteral is all over …..
Trying out our very own
Dessert of the Day!
Well, its Joan’s Fresh Egg Tart!!! I decided to bake my favorite ‘egg tart’ again. Its been a while since I last did this …. but it was fine and yummy as ever! Have got 20 in all ~ 12 in normal size and 8 smaller ones, a ‘one bite’ size each. The preparation takes time but once it is in the oven, I only have to wait for the right time to take it out!
Friday food for thought
Had so much of Chinese groceries this morning! Fresh vegetables and pre-cooked delicacies come around every Friday at the local Asian market here in Boise. The little market was packed with hardly space to walk around the aisles, even a parking space in the area! More or less like the wet market in KK ….. I seldom go on Friday so I barely see lots of people around the mart, most of the time its quiet when we were there on other days. There aren’t much choice though … but so far the best. Lesley has particularly wanted to get some ’sticky rice noodles roll’ … delicious too!

mee soup and satay!
Lesley & I had dinner at the Thai Restaurant nearby. We’ve had Thai mee soup and Thai Satay ! This is not really the first time we’ve had chosen the same menu but a couple of times in the past. We just love the mee soup!!! Sadly there is no Malaysian restaurant in Boise so we decided to have the ‘delicious’ Thai satay which was good to have when we have not eaten the Malaysian satay for a loooong long time now!
It was only like 8.15pm after dinner … we decided to go for a drive around downtown Boise or BoDo (http://www.downtownboise.org) Traffic wasn’t that bad after office hours so it was just perfectly nice! Will decide to walk into downtown once of these days ~ in the warm beautiful weather … there are just many places to visit but parking is just hard to come by and the parking fee is just expensive. Will need to walk quite a distance to reach places.
